What we collect, and why.

Last updated 1 October 2026

In short

This website collects personal information only when you send us a message through the contact form. We use it to reply to you, and for nothing else. We don't run advertising, we don't sell or share your information for marketing, and the site sets no tracking or analytics cookies. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which works without cookies and doesn't identify you.

What we collect

When you use the contact form, we receive what you type: your name, your email address, your company if you give one, the topic you choose and your message. Along with it we record the page you sent it from, the time you sent it, and a random ID that lets us recognise the same message if it is sent twice.

When you visit any page, the services that deliver the site necessarily receive technical information such as your IP address and browser details. This is covered under "Who else processes your information" below.

To understand how the site is used, we measure visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It records which pages are viewed, how long they take to load, which site linked to us, and your browser type and approximate region. It doesn't use cookies or other identifiers stored on your device, doesn't fingerprint your browser, and doesn't follow you across other websites. We only see totals, never individual visitors.

On your own device, the site remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme, using your browser's local storage under the key karamatics-theme. This stays in your browser; it is never sent to us.

How we use it

  • To read and reply to your message, and to follow up on the enquiry you started.
  • To keep the contact form free of spam and abuse.
  • To see, in aggregate, which pages people visit and how quickly they load, so we can improve the site.

We don't add you to a mailing list or send you marketing because you wrote to us.

Who else processes your information

We use a small number of service providers to run the site. They process information only to provide their service to us:

  • Cloudflare hosts the website, protects it against attacks, processes contact form submissions, provides the visit statistics described above, and runs Cloudflare Turnstile, a check that tells people and bots apart without tracking you across sites.
  • Our email delivery provider passes contact form messages on to our inbox.
  • Google Fonts supplies the site's typefaces. Your browser downloads them from Google's servers, so Google receives your IP address when you load a page.

Some of these providers may process information outside your country. They are established companies that provide their own safeguards for international transfers.

How long we keep it

We keep contact messages for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and any work that follows from it, and then delete them. You can ask us to delete yours sooner at any time.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] and we will respond as soon as we can. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to how we use your information or to complain to your local data protection authority.

To clear the theme setting stored on your device, clear this site's data in your browser settings.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
